All Night Paritta Chanting Ceremony 2019

The Annual All Night Paritta Chanting - 2019 at Jethavana Buddhist Vihara in Birmingham organised by Most Ven. Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Maha Thera and resident monks together with the devotees of the temple was of great success with a large gathering at the temple premises from the nights on the 15th and 16th of June 2019 to commemorate the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka, to invoke blessings to all our devotees and all living beings and to transfer merits to departed devotees and relatives.

 

This year Paritta Chanting was sponsored by Mr. Ravi Amarasingha, Mrs. Chamila Amarasingha and family who made enormous effort to make the event a success by keeping in touch with the temple donating requisites and providing necessary facilities. Breakfast Dana on the 16th of June 2019 was offered to monks by all the devotees of the temple.

 

The programme commenced with a Vandana session led by Rev. Thissapura Sugatharathana Thero followed by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by her excellency high commissioner Ms. Maneesha Gunasekara, the secretary of Education and Culture from Sri Lankan High Commission in the United Kingdom and other distinguished guests with our devotees.
